A Haircut!

Emily love to give "haircuts". She can spot someone that needs one a mile away. Kendall was an easy target so Emily spent quite a bit of time working on Kendall's hair over the weekend!

Bowldancing

Never heard of Bowldancing? It is the newest craze amongst 3 year old girls! Emily loved the bowling but also loved dancing to the 80's music (my personal favorite) while waiting for her turn to bowl!

Bowling!

On Friday night we went bowling with Ricky, Kendall, and Dougy. Emily absolutely loved it! She could not wait for every turn, and was patient while waiting for 5 other people to bowl before it was her turn! We would definitely take her again!

Progress

I love to watch Emily's progress in writing her name. She only put the Y first because she ran out of room after the L and had to put the Y somewhere!

Swimming Lessons

As you probably know, Emily LOVES to swim! In September, against my better judgement, I signed her up for her first swim lesson without me. As with going to school for the first time, this did not go over well. She cried each week, for most of the class. In hind sight, which is always 20/20, I realize it was all too many "new" things at the same time. I hesitated signing her up again this session, we missed the first 2 weeks, but then I registered her and brought her to class. To my amazement, she walked right into class as if she had never cried before. I am not going to try to figure it out but she was great!

The Princess is Sleeping!

Emily spends some part of every day in her Cinderella dress and "dancing shoes". Even when she falls asleep on the couch with her Cinderella cup!

Dancing With Emily

Emily likes to watch Dancing with the Stars. Last week the host, Samantha Harris, was wearing an off the shoulder dress.....when I looked at Emily, she had taken her shoulder out of her PJ's and was dancing around with her "off the shoulder" PJ's.

See Lily!

See Lily climb rocks!
See Lily play with trains!
See Lily pose!
It is hard to find a photo from out trip that Lily is not in!
Imagine Emily's excitement when she got to hold the REAL Baby Hannah!

Rocky Mountain National Park

Last Friday we drove north from Denver to Rocky Mountain National Park. This is Emily's second National Park, her first was Olympic in Washington. A lot of the roads in the park were closed for the winter but we made the most of what was open.

The Denver Zoo

Last Wednesday Emily and I spent the day at the Denver Zoo with my friend Kara and her two children. We has a fantastic day and it was great getting to know her son, Cameron, and meet her 6 month old daughter, Hannah. After our day at the zoo, Emily fell asleep at 5pm on the floor and slept until 5:30am! That is a record!

Emily loves to read the map and figure out where to go!

What a great day!

Boulder

Last week Rick had a conference in Denver and Emily and I tagged along! We had amazing weather, it was in the 70s all week (and I did not bring flip flops), and after the 2 feet of snow they had the week before, we could not have asked for better weather. On Thursday, Emily and I went to Boulder. It is one of my favorite places and I was quite excited to go. We went to see the Flatirons, took a little hike ....not really a hike, more like a walk, which is enough "hiking" for me..... and then went to the Pearl Street Mall for lunch and shopping. We had a great day!

"Look Baby Cam, I can rock climb too!"

This is Boulders idea of a playground for kids....rocks to climb on in the middle of the Pearl Street Mall......the entire town is such an "outdoorsy" town....

I just love the Flatirons!

Project

I love to do projects with Emily. These projects are messy, and open ended. "Process not product" is my favorite quote. The projects she does at school are a little too product oriented for me, it is really about the process and not about the product at the end.

Emily and Tia......Tia loved the glue!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bounce - Hit

When I play tennis with Emily we usually hit volleys. I tried once, a couple months ago, to teach her a little forehand by saying "bounce - hit". She did not have much interest then, but last week she started doing it by herself. It was strange hearing my child say the same words I have said to countless other children while teaching at the Y.

Wings

In case you were wondering....wings were "in" for this Trick or Treat season. Good thing Emily and Baby Cam were fashion forward and ready for this new trend!
Baby Cam's neighborhood had T or T on the 31st, we were invited to join in the fun, and fun it was. As always with the Paradise/Hawkins crew!

Holding hands!

Even Bitty Baby wore her costume!

Our favorite boy!
