WIzards and Potions

This sign was also made by our friend Travis. It was a huge hit and I gave each girl a photo of them in the sign in the thank you note. Potions were really fun. I labeled all the colored bottles with HP inspired labels with names of real ingredients used in the books. I wish I had a photo of the table when we were finished, what a mess!

Kelsey, a HUGE HP fan, came to the party and was a big help!

we called this one Hagrid's Toothpaste

Welcome to Hogwarts

One of the most impressive parts of the party was this Platform 9 3/4. This was a prop we borrowed from a friend who threw a HP party for his daughter a few years ago.

We made wands a Olivander's . amazing what you can do with hot glue, paper, and paint

we sorted into houses with our talking Sorting Hat - amazing!
Party colors were red and yellow for Gryffindor - of course

Harry Potter Party - The Set Up

Emily is still completely obsessed with Harry Potter and we (I) have been planning her Harry Potter Party for weeks (months). To say I spent a lot of time on this party would be an understaement. I couldnt' help myself! Pinterest became (for the first time) my best friend, as did the Dollar Store and Michael's. Sienna had a HP Party in January so I tired to focus on different things than they did.
We had 13 girls attending and at least 5 of them don't read HP (can you imagine?) I wanted to do things that even they would like. We did wand making, Quidditch, and a lot of potions (very popular).

Apparently the party was a HUGE success, with some parents mad because they are afraid to have a party now, we threw a tough party to follow

True HP fans will need no explanations to the decorations  ... I don't have photos of the chocolate frogs and chocolate lightning bolt lollipops I made to be in Honeydukes.

New Hampshire Project

The 4th grade spends a lot of time learning about NH. They end the year with a big project on anything they want, that has to do with NH. Emily chose NH skiing and its history. The day the project was assigned she started working on her report, collecting data, facts, and figures. She worked very, very hard. We also took a trip to Cannon Mountain to do to the ski muesum. Her report was mostly complete by the time we went, but we took lots of photos, including photos of Bode MIller's Olympic medals, as he was part of her report.
The most impressive part of her project was the "visual" She and Rick worked hard with paper mache, chicken wire, paint, and even Lego people, to make a very impressive mountain. Ricky lent Emily an old pair of wooden skis to take in on presentation day, and the Dale-like sweater was a nice touch too.
Needless to say, an A++ was earned and she was very proud!

ready to present!

Recital

Emily had her (last?) recital last weekend. The show was Beauty and the Beast and although the production was very good, it was very loooooong. Almost 3 hours, each show! She was Storm for Jazz and Leaves for lyrical. She says she is a little bored with dance and she wants to play more tennis, so perhaps this is our "Swan Song"

In the Park

Emily's dance company did a few numbers in the park a few weeks ago. It was nice to have a little preview for the recital!

This was by far her favorite part! Being lifted! she could not have been more excited
